Like anything do your research when custom ordering vehicles or building a vehicle. For me I knew what I somewhat wanted with a budget to stay in.

How do I know what is right for me?

Do is research online and at the dealership. I knew I wanted a pickup truck with decent cab space. I did research into different manufacturers and what they had to offer. think and plan out what you are going to use this vehicle for; for example pulling a trailer, family travel or daily commute. Start working on a budget.

First thing knowing what you are going to do with the vehicle. In my case I knew I was going to go camping. But wasn’t sure if I wanted a 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton or 1 ton. So I priced some out and started doing research of the different models and options at the dealership. Once I had a understanding of what was out there and some of the features I then went to the manufacturer website and started looking at specs and options.

Go to the dealership!

Once I knew what I kinda of vehicle I wanted and what I was going to use it for I was ready to see what the manufacturer fully offers. I built the truck online through the manufacturer website with options I needed and built it again with options I wanted and needed. This gave me a MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price) figure to play around with. Then I compared the vehicle I built to the ones on the dealership lots (note not all dealership pricing is the same). This was also the time I test drove the different models to see what I liked better too.

Find a dealership you can trust or won’t be pushy!

I found a dealership I could trust and wanted to help me with my needs and wants. I did a build initial build with the options and pricing. I took the build sheet home and re-thought about the the packages and pricing (of course changing stuff around on it).

A week later I took my build sheet with the changes to the dealership. We did a final build and went over every option in full detail. I knew with confidence that after signing the papers to have my truck built the exact way I wanted I was not going to have buyers remorse or wish I would’ve of done something different.

Take your time when ordering!

Take your time when picking what you want your vehicle to be like. Think about the color, wheels, shocks, engine and all the fine details. For me I planned for what the future could be down the road. For example I made sure my truck had a fifth wheel hitch before I ever wanted one.

To order a truck you will need to put some type of deposit down. This is so the dealership is not stuck with a vehicle that will be hard to sale and not get anything out of it. Under certain circumstances the down deposit could be returned for example you vehicle dies and you are now forced to buy one off the lot. Another thing is you do not make payments or pay for the vehicle until you take ownership of the vehicle. It took 6 months for my truck to be built due to shortage of parts.

And we wait for delivery…
