If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

Having the opportunity to give a million dollars away would be a dream come true. The first thing that comes to mind is the song “If I had a million dollars” by Bare Naked Ladies. I am a huge believer in helping those in need and giving back to the community. I would not give it all to one organization or to one person. I would try to help everyone who needs the help. I know I would probably break the rules, but I would invest some of this money. I would not keep any of it, whatever the investment makes I would give that away too. I feel like everyone should give back and help a little. This does not mean you have to donate all your money or all your time. It can be something simple like helping someone to get to their vehicle from the grocery store or giving a person some spare change to buy an item. We are always welcome to do more but sometimes it’s the little things that make the big difference in someone’s life.

Freeloaders and pan handlers are all the same.

Not necessarily true. Sometimes people just need help getting back on their feet. What we might think as someone freeloading off us is really trying to save up and better themselves. Maybe their plan is to repay us, but they are just trying to get back on their feet for now. Same with pan handlers they might be truly homeless for a good reason. Maybe a wife or a husband took everything from them. Maybe they made some poor choices and need help to get back on the right track. When we think of freeloaders and pan handlers, we always associate the worst with them and think they are all alcoholics and that’s how they get to be where they are. This is the most stereotype of thinking there is. Like the saying goes never judge a book by its cover. I am not saying all freeloaders and pan handlers just need a little help or are good people. Some of them might not be and they might have really got in that situation due to the repetitive bad decisions.

Telling if they are good and bad?

Well, honestly there is no true way of telling by looking at someone. We can listen to their story and how they ended up in the situation they are in. If they tell you from their heart, you will know in your heart that they either need help or just looking for a handout. One thing I like is that for Christmas you can adopt a family. This is one of the coolest things I have personally done. This was before COVID-19 I adopted a family for Christmas. Before you adopt a family, you can read their story and see exactly what they need. I read about fifty stories and what they are all in need of. Some families were a single parent with two kids, others were a husband and wife with kids. Most of the families on the adopt a family for Christmas website really needed help. Occasionally I would read a story of someone just wanting someone to buy all this high-tech stuff for their family because they couldn’t afford it. Those people I would just skip right through. It was a hard decision to finally chose a family. So, I decided to adopt a single mother with two kids. This poor mother has been through a lot and needed a lot of stuff. All the stuff she asked for was necessities things for her kids. She didn’t have toys on her list, and she had the bare minimum for herself. I knew I had to go all out and make this Christmas super special for her. But you could tell this single mother was genuine and needed help. If you are interested in adopting a family for Christmas, I will have more information below.

How can I help?

You can help someone who needs support in many ways. You can do something simple like be a friend. Some people get on the wrong track and have no one to talk to them or help them out. If you have the room or financially stable enough you can help them out in other ways too. You can offer them a roof over their head or give them money to help them get back on their feet. Sometimes helping them clean up and look for a job is a great way to help them out. Most people who are down and homeless do not have a way to get new clothes or clean themselves up for an interview. No one wants a smelly, homeless person working for them and especially if they have no permanent address. Our world needs to be a little kinder and help those in need. Even if it’s something simple, although there’s times we wish we could give a lot more but are just unable to.
