What would you do if you could travel into outer space to the moon? When we were growing up that was everyone’s dream to go to the moon. We have been taught in schools that one day we will live on the moon. I remember having a school assignment where we had to draw a picture of how we thought it would be like living on the moon. The older some of get, we lose that feeling of wanting to visit the moon. Don’t get me wrong, it would defiantly be once in a lifetime I would want to see. But being away from family and the risks is just not for me. I think we are still a long way from living on the moon.
A sight to see!
I couldn’t imagine the view you would see on the moon. It would be a swap from what we do now; we currently look up at the moon and now we would have a chance to look up at the Earth. But we could see for ourselves what the moon is really like. We could feel moon dust, and rocks. We could see stars clear as day with not a cloud in sight. If we had a telescope, we might even see the other planets. Exploring something totally new and different would be a mystery itself.
The wonders!
Thinking about being able to visit the moon makes me have many questions and keeps me thinking. For example, will Earth have phases like the moon has phases? Or another thing is wouldn’t it get boring after a day or so? To start traveling to the moon we would have to develop the moon. We would need hotels, power plants, greenhouses, just for a large group to survive.
Back to reality.
I feel it would get boring after a day or two on the moon. We would be stuck wearing space suits which would get annoying after a while. Some of us would miss our family and friends. You might even miss your job and/or coworkers. I know I would defiantly miss eating real food. I feel we are just not ready to put the public on the moon yet. We need to make the moon a livable environment like a dome or building. The travel time needs to improve from 3 days to 1 day or less. There is so much that needs to be done before we can start sending groups of people to visit or live on the moon.
Reasons to go to the moon.
There are many reasons humans have been looking to stay on the moon. We love to explore and conquer. This is why countries sometimes go to war because of that power struggle of who is better or to be in control. We have been looking for alternatives for a very long time. When I say alternatives, I mean energy, pollution, living, etc. Researchers say that the Earth’s ozone layer is depleting, and pollution is on the rise. If we are unable to survive on Earth, we need to find another place to live. This reminds me of a series called “The 100”, it’s about a group of people who flee Earth when every country was nuking everyone. These people lived in a space station for a long time like 97 years before coming back down to Earth. So, in the series they state that it takes 75 years or so for Earth’s eco-system to rejuvenate and become livable. It’s been about a year since I have watched this series, but it makes me wonder what would happen if we had to go through that today. Maybe this is what we need to do so Earth can reset itself.
