Devices today, especially smartphones, are wasting our days away. The amount of time we spend per day looking at a screen is just insane. Imagine the amount of free time we could have by doing other things, rather than stuck looking at a screen. Although we do find it fun now, when we look back, we realize we have done nothing. These devices are not only tying up our valuable time but also is very unhealthy for us. If all these smartphone and video games didn’t exist think about how many people would be outside soaking up the sun or going places. How many hours per day do you look at your smartphone?

Time is valuable!

Our precious time is worth so much more than we value it. We work at low paying jobs to make ends meet and then we waste our time looking at a screen. So, let’s break it down to basics. The job you work for thinks your time is only worth “X” amount of dollars. Then on our days off we are going to piss our time away by playing a video game for the same amount of time we would be at work on a workday. Let’s say you make ten dollars an hour and work for eight hours a day so that’s eighty bucks a day. Is that video game you play every Saturday or day off worth eighty bucks of your time? I defiantly can think of doing better stuff for eighty dollars a day. Most people do not value their time like they should. We get caught up in advertisements and technology that tell us what we are worth. What is your time worth?

Healthy eyes and fresh air.

When we are couped up in a building or at home we miss out on the fresh air and sunlight. Sunlight gives us energy and gives us healthy vitamins. Like anything we still need to moderate exposure to the sun. The screens we look at all day are not healthy for our eyes. They put a strain on our eyes and for the people that look at their smartphones right when they wake up to the most strain on their eyes. Being glued to these devices and technology also brings a lot of mental health issues. Seizures are more prominent with flashing lights and screens. Depression is higher because subconsciously you know you are wasting your valuable time, and you get depressed when you feel like you have no real friends. So, turn off the electronics and go play outside with some real friends. I guarantee you will have more fun, be more active and feel a lot better at the end of the day.

Things we should be doing instead!

If we turned off our smartphones and devices, we could have so much free time. According to research by two companies the average person looks at their smartphone ninety-six times. That’s almost two hours of your day to pull your smartphone from your pocket glance at it and put it back into your pocket (assuming it takes one minute to do that). So, that’s 584 hours wasted a year. That would be $5,840 worth of your time if we are basing it off ten dollars an hour rate. But go outside, travel, go camping, boating, swimming, fishing, etc. Make you time worthwhile and enjoy life. Your life is worth so much more that we or anyone else will value it. This reminds me of an article I read that a young boy saved his money up to buy one hour of his father’s time so he could just enjoy his dad for one hour. So, don’t forget to spend your valuable time with loved ones who appreciate your valuable time and precious moments. How much of your valuable time have you wasted today?

Technology – the good, bad, and ugly

As much as technology helps us with our everyday life and makes things easier, we tend to abuse it. We like to spend the time we save by having some technology in our life with other technology that eats up our time. It’s like they both cancel each other out. What are we really saving by having all this technology in our life? Does it really make life easier or more complicated? We hope that technology makes our life easier but sometimes it can be more of a headache and eat more of our time. So, like anything we do we must moderate the technology in our life and do not let it take over your life.

How much time do you waste on devices? Was that worth what you would make at a job?
