When growing up most of us wanted to be the favorite child or the favorite grandchild. As we get older, we still want to be the favorite or cool parent, uncle/aunt, or grandparent. But as we look at it now or even when we were younger who is or was our favorite person? Some people grew up with that fun crazy uncle or aunt that would let you break all the rules, and your parents would get so mad at them. Maybe it was the grandparents that spoiled you and bought you anything you wanted and just gave you the world anytime you saw them. I know I was the least favorite at many times, I was just too hyper, and no one could deal with my craziness. Are you the favorite crazy person to someone?
What characteristics makes someone a favorite?
Most the time that favorite family member had a crazy, spontaneous personality. You sometimes didn’t know what they had up their sleeve or what the plan for the day was going to be like. All you know is anytime you are with them they put you first and you always have crazy, good, fun time. Or maybe you weren’t into the crazy spontaneous stuff, but you just looked up to that family member like a role model. They took care of their family, they had something cool to always show you, or you just enjoyed their company of them. Whatever the reason may be there is some characteristic you are attached to or really liked about that person.
Grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Especially when we are young, we always wish we could just always spend the night at that favorite family member’s house or spend the day with them as much as possible. Sometimes people will go out of their way to please or make a better experience for someone. But life for them isn’t always spontaneous or super crazy. They were just able to do that for you because they knew you liked it or meant the world to you. Think about when you travel on vacation to see distant family. I know for me, when I would visit my cousin in Florida, we would do some crazy fun stuff. But when we left to go back to Michigan, he we back to his regular life. He had to work every day, and the younger cousins had school and what not.
Vacation brings out the best in everyone.
It’s like when we go on vacation and spending the special time with your family. Especially when you go somewhere fun and exciting. It just makes the time even more special than it already is. All these fun moments and just never wanting them to end. But it cannot always be like that unfortunately. Adults need to work, kids need to go to school, and life needs to have some kind of structure.
My favorite family member.
When parents say they don’t have a favorite child and you used to tell them yes you do, or you are lying. Well looking at their situation and mine seem pretty much the same. I totally get them now that I am older and reflecting on a favorite family member. I personally couldn’t choose just one favorite family member. I have so many special moments with each person in my family and I mean from spouses, parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles and aunts, and even all the cousins. We have all made special memories that brought us close. So, my favorite family member is my whole family. I wouldn’t single one out over another and I defiantly wouldn’t trade one for the other. Would you agree?
