We all have a favorite animal, and most of the time we have a great reason why this animal is our favorite over the others. For something to be our favorite we must have a connection or something we can relate to. So, if an animal is our favorite, we will need that same connection with that species. The connections we can have with an animal may vary from person to animal. Not everyone will have the same connection or reasoning for their favorite animal. Can a man’s best friend “The Dog” also be a man’s favorite animal?
Getting that connection.
Almost everyone has been to a zoo or safari and has seen the many different types of animals there. If you haven’t been to a zoo or a safari then you have seen animals on television or in the wild. We all have an animal we favor over others, and we all have animals we do not like. Disliking an animal is easy. Either we do not like the way they look, move, or we have had a bad experience with them. But having a favorite animal is a little different. For most to have a favorite animal we need to have some type of connection or something we can relate with them. Once we have that connection, we will tend to favor that animal over the others. When we are young, we sometimes have a hard time picking a favorite animal because we will only go on looks or the way the animal acts, so we will not have a connection with the animal. Is your favorite animal from when you were young still the same favorite animal today?
What is a connection with an animal?
The connection with the animal is how you can relate to it or how it makes you feel when you see or think if it. For example, many people enjoy or like the monkeys because they are like kids, acting goofy and funny yet they can be so caring to one another. Other people may like the lions because they are fierce and are the boss over everything else (or so they think). Having a favorite animal makes us happy or excited when we see them. Since there’s that connection, we feel we get what that animal feels, and they get us. Even though we know that’s not 100% true, we still feel that connection between the animal and us. Do think you have a connection with your favorite animal?
All connections are not the same.
When we have a connection or an animal we can relate to, it’s not the same for every person. We might like hippopotamus’s because one time there was a single hippopotamus that was following us back and forth along the enclosure. While it was doing this it looked like the hippopotamus was smiling and having as much fun as we were. This single connection can change the way we feel about an animal. Maybe now every time we go to the zoo, we try to have that same connection again. What was it that made you have a favorite animal?
My favorite animal.
While I do enjoy most animals and I have had many connections or where I could relate with them. My favorite animal has always been the penguin. I like how they fly through the water. The are very loving creatures and they show each other love. They need to be around other penguins, yet they are so independent at times. It wasn’t until 2001 I discovered not all penguins need the cold weather. I was visiting Las Vegas (well there for a wedding) and one of the hotels had penguins walking around outside in a courtyard. I was so amazed as I was able to be so close to them as they walked pass people like it was nothing for them. They were not skittish or scared but just happy penguins. I did learn more about them and found out they were African Penguins. So, you possibly learned something new, African Penguins do not need the cold temperatures like some of the others.
