Do you enjoy your job?

When it comes to a job or career, we all want that dream job or position. Having that dream job isn’t always what it seems to be until we start doing the tasks of the job. We tend to find we hate most jobs we work at. Some people will stay at the company because of the money. Sometimes happiness needs to be over money made. You can have your dream job that has a good wage without going to a 4-year college. We are pushed from a young age that we must attend college to get a good job. Sometimes we do not need a degree and we can still have a good paying career that we enjoy. Do you honestly enjoy your job or do you only like the money you make from it?

Dream job or career.

Having a job or career we can live off of, while still enjoying what we do is a dream itself come true. Everyone has different personalities, likes, and differences. What one person might like; another might hate. When it comes to jobs and tasks it’s the same thing. Different people will like different jobs and tasks. Schools will tend to tell us what jobs and career fields are better over others. If people are different then we should be choosing our own career fields without being persuaded into something, we do not want to do. Too many times we see people forced to do something they do not want to do. Did you choose your career field, or did someone push you into it?

It’s just a job and a paycheck.

We should never be stuck at something because of money. While most of the time it seems that money can make anyone do anything. People are willing to be unhappy and will suffer just because of money. Doing a job because it’s a paycheck or the money in hand is never a good thing. We tend to not like doing these types of jobs and it makes us miserable to do them. When we are miserable or having a bad day, the people we encounter (usually family at home) must deal with us not being happy and our attitude. We might not think it affects us as much as it really does. You can have all the money in the world but without family, you have nothing. Do you do things because of the money and ignore how you feel about it?

Living someone else’s dream or life.

There are many times throughout life we are told how we must live or what we must do in life. Going to college and getting a 4-year degree is one of them. Now that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get a higher education or go to school. We should always be learning even when we get older. We should never stop learning. But we should never be forced to do something that doesn’t make us happy. There are many great career fields out there and many of them do not need a 4-year degree. Some great career fields can be obtained by doing special training or attending a technical school. Many times, our elders will try to push us into a career they wish they did themselves or into the career field they are in. Schools also will try to force us to head towards a career we are not interested in. Never be afraid to stand up and say this is what I want to do. If you stand up for what type of career or job you want, you will be much happier in the end (and probably save money too). If you had the option to relive your life, would you be doing the same career field, or would you have been doing it sooner?

Living my dream.

I know my life and career isn’t perfect and It’s defiantly not everyone’s dream. Working EMS is perfect for me. It’s not about the money and it’s something I defiantly enjoy doing. I do not dread going to work or having to do my job. Of course, better pay is always on everyone’s list for any job or career, but I would rather do EMS than do something I hate. I am not miserable when going to or coming from work. I have worked at many places and some I would have thought that was a dream job. For example, working at General Motors at Global Propulsion Systems in Pontiac, I made good money and was working on future engines. I left an awesome career in automotive to pursue the medical field. I make way less, but I love working EMS. I do not dread going to work like I did when I was in the automotive field (do not get me wrong, not all days were bad or dreadful, but some were defiantly worse than others).

If you could do any job and education/money was not holding you back, what would be the job or career you would do?

Nothing is perfect in life. We have to enjoy ourselves by accepting the truth of life. Happiness is a choice and not a chance.

True. But being in a career you enjoy will help you be happier. Happiness is what you make it too.
