What tattoo do you want and where would you put it?

Tattoos are one of the biggest topics that is not politics, religion, or gender. Many people have their beliefs and feelings about getting a tattoo or people who have tattoos. As with everything, time evolves, and people learn to grow and accept change whether they agree or disagree with it. Tattoos come from a long history and with that history there have been many associations of good and bad. Everyone will always have their opinion about tattoos but that goes with everything else too. There are many reasons why people get tattoos. Sometimes they regret it, but most the time people tend to like their tattoos. Could you be attached to something for the rest of your life like a tattoo or an object?

Time changes.

Tattoos have been around since the early 1800s. From that time until recent times tattoos have been associated with bad people (like criminals). It was always looked that tattoos were trashy and looked down on. Today tattoos are looked as work of art. Some people get them to enhance their beauty, remember loved ones, or to express themselves. As with everything that changes, not everyone is good with change. Some people still believe that tattoos are associated with bad people and look trashy. Has your perspective on tattoos changed over the years?

Opinions and beliefs.

There are people that will always have their beliefs and opinions about tattoos. They can be very strong willed to their opinions and beliefs. Whatever someone’s opinion or beliefs are they should never affect another person’s actions. For example, let’s say Fred doesn’t like tattoos because he believes they degrade the human body. It’s okay for Fred to think this way as long as he is not forcing his beliefs and opinions on someone else. Being different, having our own beliefs and opinions is what makes us human. Do you think everyone has a right to their opinions and be forceful with what they believe in?

Reasons for tattoos.

People will do anything to express themselves in their own way. Many will get unique tattoos or tattoos with meaning behind them. Having a piece of art on your body that you can enjoy every day is some people’s happiness. Remembering a loved one by getting something tattooed on yourself is your way of keeping their memory alive. No one should ever be shamed or looked down on because you want to remember a loved one. Whatever your reason for your tattoo or tattoos is your reason and your choice. Do you think offensive tattoos should be displayed for everyone to see?

You’ll regret it after a few years.

Many people are told to be careful what they do to their bodies (i.e. getting a tattoo). We are often told that we will regret tattoos after a few years. It’s known that tattoos are permanent, and we will have to live with them for the rest of our lives. Over the years tattoos do tend to fade and we change (our likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc.). According to Pew Research Center only 24% of Americans surveyed that have a tattoo, regret it. So, statistically if you are worried about regretting your tattoo it’s a lower percentage than you would think it would be. Have you ever regretted getting something permanent?

Tattoos to me.

While my thoughts on tattoos should never change or influence your thoughts on them. Sometimes when I look at tattoos, I see beautiful art. Not all tattoos are beautiful, some look like prison art or something done by a 7-year-old. There was a time in my life I wanted two tattoos. As I got older, I couldn’t see spending the money on something that never really gave anything back to me (not saying I never wasted money on stupid crap, because I have). My family doesn’t look highly on tattoos, and I have always been afraid of getting something and regretting it. Although now that I do see the statistics, regretting is not a good reason anymore. I am not totally against the idea of tattoos and maybe one day I will get something meaningful. But as of now I feel tattoos are not me.

If you had to get a tattoo today, what tattoo would you get and where?
