Technology is advancing every day. The way it has changed in the work over the last 25 years has been crazy. Technology has made some of our jobs easier, more efficient, and more organized. Today we can easily multitask doing more than two things at once with technology. If a single change needs to be made, everyone in the workplace or on the project will be updated at once and at the same time. While technology does come with a hefty price tag, in the end it saves more money than the cost. As most people like technology, it’s not always the best thing. Has technology changed in the workplace since you started working at your job?
Technology advancements.
Since the last 25 years technology has changed so much. More technology is readily available and at an affordable price. Everyone has emails, cellphones, computers, tablets and more. Now with AI (Artificial Intelligence) on the rise technology is advancing even more. Technology is in every home, workplace, school, etc. The younger generations cannot imagine life with limited technology such as no smartphones, computers, virtual realities, or multiplayer games. Multiplayer gaming was having your friends come over and you both get a controller to play a single (and same) game on a single television. What was your first big piece of technology in your home that you remember?
Technology makes everything better.
Some people will always have a hard time with change, especially in the workplace. The older generations always want to think the old way is simpler and better. In reality technology helps us stay organized, on time, focused and in real time when used in the workplace. Technology also helps us become more efficient and more effective at our jobs. With communication advancing in the workplace technology has made it easier for everyone to stay in touch and work more efficiently together. Working on huge projects or remotely is easier today with technology, it keeps everyone staying on the same page when working together. What is the number 1 technology you use in the workplace?
The downfall of technology.
Technology is good in so many ways but not everything is as good as we think it is. Technology can be very expensive to get into. Look at special programs (company specific) and AI. AI is very expensive to get into, but the benefits may just outweigh the cost. From a company aspect it pays to buy into technology. As far as the workers want to rebel against the change, it also replaces jobs. For example, Robots on an assembly line have replaced many people’s jobs. Same with self-checkout at a grocery store. While some people embrace technology for its ease and convenience others will disapprove of it. Do you think sometimes technology does more harm than good?
Technology in my field.
Technology has come a long way in the medical field. We are able treat more patients efficiently and accurately. Because technology has come a long way today, we can diagnose heart attacks in an ambulance and send the report to the hospital so when we arrive, they can take you to the heart catheterization lab before your heart suffers any more damage. This piece of technology comes at a high price, but it saves more lives. I think technology can be a good thing but like anything it does need to be in moderation.
