Walk or run? Both are great cardio for the body. Walking and running can both be really relaxing and enjoyable especially on wooded trail or on a scenic route. It doesn’t take much to get started into a habit of going for a run or jog. In fact it doesn’t have to be for a long time, anything is better than nothing. So stretch your legs and get out there!
Where do I start?
You can simply start by walking around the block or go to the mall and walk around. You can always try it out 15 to 30 minutes and if you enjoy it, you can always go longer. Enjoy some scenery or window shop around the mall. If you like company then bring a friend, and you will be doing them a favor with some cardio.
Good mentally and physically!
Going for a walk, jog, or a walk is good for you mentally and physically. Clear your head and just focus on the scenery or your surroundings. This will put your mind into a reset and you will have a better reflection of the day. Some people use it to start their day and others like to use it to end their day.
Can’t I just use a treadmill?
Short answer is yes. But leaving you home and going somewhere new or different (than your regular surroundings) will help clear your mind. Using a treadmill most people are keeping track how long they been on the machine for or how far they walked. When you go somewhere to go walk, jog, or run you just go. You still might set up a destination and goal for example I am going to walk around the block which should take me 15 minutes. But at the 15 minute mark I cannot just jump off the machine and go lay in my lazy boy chair.
What other benefits?
Some other benefits will include possible meeting new people (even if it’s just saying hi as you walk pass them). Focus and take in the beautiful world around you. Enjoying the fresh air and smells around you. You can become healthier and happier. You could sleep better and have more of a productive day. Set goals for yourself and push yourself further. Setting goals and trying to break your last record is always fun and challenging.
Too busy and no time!
We can always make excuses for everything. We always seem to do it when it’s something healthy for our bodys. Like anything we have to make time or put it on our schedule. We always have time to do nothing or watch TV. Take some of that time and get healthier.
Try it out for a week and reflect how it made you feel.
