As much as we may plan for tomorrow, my real priority is living today. Don’t get me wrong, I save money and put it away for retirement but don’t let your life pass you by planning and worrying about the future. I do plan all my traveling and vacations ahead of time. I am always looking forward to what the future brings. When I have traveling plans or camping trip planned, I am excited, and I can’t wait to leave. But the rest of the world keeps moving and so should we.
Goals?
We should always plan and have goals set for the future. This makes us work hard and play harder. We also need something to keep going by having goals, and plans in life. We must not forget to live for today. Before we know it, life will pass us by, and we will never have lived it. So, if I had to list my number one priority, it would be to live for today. My number two priority would be to save money and plan for retirement. No one wants to work when they are in their seventies. My long-term goal is to retire when I am in my early sixties. What is your long-term goal?
Planning your goals.
Some will have multiple goals in life and that’s an excellent thing to do. The goals and priority of the goals can be little, big, long or short. Either way write a list of your goals and stick to them. If you fail to make a goal; make another goal that you can achieve. Also figure out why you couldn’t achieve that goal. Some goals and plans just don’t work out the way we thought. For example, I wanted to buy a new vehicle last November; when I went to the dealership, they didn’t have exactly what I wanted. I ended up ordering a vehicle and having it built. This pushed my goal back to June. This is perfectly okay that I missed my goal, but I just moved my goal to a different time frame, and it worked out for the better.
Work and goal balance.
Sometimes we get caught up in our goals and plans that we have set for the future that we forget to live for today. We must find a balance between them both. We want good goals especially if we are saving up for the future or planning something big. Working our life away and not spending time with people we love or doing things we like then we miss out on living. Retirement is no good if we are on our death bed and unable to enjoy it. I was always brought up to work hard, especially while I was young and able to. But it took years later that I realized I missed many family functions or missed enjoying life because I would work every day. The money was defiantly nice but, I wish I could’ve spent more time with my grandparents, parents, siblings and extended family. So, find that perfect balance before your life passes you by and you do not enjoy your goals or plans that were set. If you are already working your life away, then this is your wakeup call!
Good small goals.
Small goals are great to have and should be high on your priority list. These are the goals that pull us away from working too much. These goals can be simple such as going for a hike through a forest, camping trip, or a vacation trip. When family from out of town comes in and visits, we should plan or make a goal to spend some time with them too. It can be something easy and simple such as going out to eat dinner with them. It’s so easy to get caught up in the moment we must not forget today.
