Daily writing prompt
Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

Throughout life we want to reflect on the past and prepare for the future. Sometimes we must reflect on our past so we can plan our future to be better. We always try to better ourselves as we go through life. We never want to take a step backwards or make the same mistakes. If we never review and learn from our past, we will never move forward or correct our mistakes. To do this we may need to seek others for help when reviewing our past. Do you ever share your past with others?

Reflecting on our past.

We should review and reflect on our past throughout life. Sometimes it can be looking at old photos or thinking of memories. When we are feeling defeated or like we are not moving forward we should look back on life. Look back and think of all the accomplishments that you have achieved. Think about all the struggles you had to face to get to where you are today. Life is never easy, and we defiantly can see that when we see how far we came when reflecting on our own life. Do you ever sit and think how many things you have overcome or accomplished throughout your life?

Seeking help from others.

When we are looking for help from others, we do not have to state that we need help with something. We can reflect on our life and share our memories with someone. We can tell them the great struggles or accomplishments we have overcame. While we are sharing these moments sometimes, we will figure out the answers we are looking for by simply reviewing our life out loud with someone. Sometimes that person we are sharing our past with will have input or questions of their own. Either way it’s always good to share our past because we may discover something that will help us in the future. If we never know about the past or history, then the past or history will repeat itself. Don’t make the same mistakes or go through the same struggles you have already been through! Do you share your memories and past with others?

Planning for the future.

We always want to move forward in life, and I don’t mean only getting older. We want to better ourselves. We want to create goals so we can have great accomplishments and live a great life. We want to be able to look back and be proud of our history. This can only be done if we prepare and plan our future for the better. When creating goals, we should have short-term and long-term goals. Our short-term goals can be easy smaller goals while our long-term goals can be harder bigger goals. It’s also okay to have some way out there ridiculous goals that are almost impossible. This will help us push ourselves harder and to really help better ourselves. Do you set goals for yourself?

How I reflect on the past and plan the future.

No one knows what the future will hold for us so sometimes no matter how hard we try our future doesn’t go as planned. I know this because I have failed many times through out life. For example, I thought after college I wanted to live on my own. I moved into an apartment with my girlfriend at the time and little to my knowledge we learned quickly that life was way more expensive than we thought or planned for. Looking back on that time frame I have learned better planning and learned to budget better. I like to share my accomplishments and failures with my family. I try to teach them the mistakes I have made and the things that worked out for me so that they can learn from my past. Now I know sometime to learn you must fail for yourself. But by me sharing my past I let them know it’s okay to fail. By doing all this also helps me prepare for the future. I set new goals and keep pushing harder to better myself. My ridiculous goal that is pretty much almost impossible is retiring younger than 65. I would really like to retire when I am in my late 50s. I know this is almost impossible, but I do work hard and push myself to try to reach this goal. I have many smaller and longer goals that will hopefully help me achieve the ultimate ridiculous goal. Whatever happens I am proud of my life and how far I have come throughout it.

What are some of your goals for the future and do you reflect on the past to help you plan for the future?
