How would you improve your community?

There are always ways to improve the community we live in and surrounding areas. Most people get the wrong thinking when someone says you need to be more involved in the community. When we talk about being involved in the community and making it a better place, it will always start with us. There are many things we can do to make the community a better place. Getting more people involved in the community will bring the community closer and a better place to live. Sometimes doing the small things or paying it forward, will go a long way within the community. Do you think you contribute to your community or surrounding communities?

Being a part of something better.

Our community will always start with us as an individual. Friendliness goes a long way. A simple saying or waving hi to neighbors will show you friendliness to them. Checking on elderly neighbors and making sure their okay will bring you closer to being active in the community. Other people in the community will talk how you do simple things that brings a smile to everyone’s face. Taking care of your own property and everything updated, clean, and nice will bring happiness to anyone who sees your property. Other neighbors will tend to follow because they do not want their property to look way worse than your property. Do you enjoy having a green, thick, healthy, lawn?

Holidays bring the community together.

Sometimes people within the community can become very competitive. Having a nice property and everything looking super good may make others jealous. When it comes to the holidays and decorating can be very competitive but in a good way. The more people who decorate their homes and land up with decorations within the community brings the community closer and makes everyone within the community happier. Have you ever gotten compliments for your holiday decorations?

Giving to others and paying it forward.

When paying it forward it doesn’t have to be something big or expensive. Holding the door for people or a simple greeting when seeing people will make a huge effect on the community. The nicer you are in your community the more others will want to follow. For example, when visiting a small town everyone is so nice and treats you like family. Big communities can have the same feeling if everyone treats everyone with friendliness and kindness. Sometimes the smallest jesters and comments go the longest way. Everyone always needs a little more kindness in life. Do you say greet or hold doors open for others?

Being more involved within the community.

Today there are many ways to be involved within the community. With social media and technology today it’s easy to reach out to others who live within the community. Planning or being a part of community events will keep you involved within the community. For example, attending a Christmas tree lighting, Thanksgiving parade, or fireworks are a few ways for you to be involved in the community. Reaching out further and participating and meeting people within the community will help you get further involved within the community. Do you participate within the community you live in?

Doing my part.

I am not perfect, and I am nowhere near perfect. I do try to hold doors open for people or greet them as I pass people by. Today our world has a lot of hate (maybe not really hate more like bad manners in a way) and stubbornness that many people just tend to keep to themselves. When you do hold doors open or greet someone, they ignore you or do not compliment you. I have noticed that many times when I hold the door open for someone, they do not say anything and it’s like they expect it. Maybe I am wrong for thinking that, but I will always continue to greet people and hold the door open for someone whenever I get a chance. I feel if we all do a good deed a day, it will bring the community closer together and everyone being friendlier to each other. My good deed today was helping an elderly man walk from the parking lot into a restaurant.
