Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

Throughout life there will be many times we are forced to take a risk. Sometimes we really do not want to take the risk but know deep down it’s the right thing to do. Any time we do take a risk on something there is always a chance it may backfire or not go as planned. We can always weigh the risk by writing the pros and cons down. There are many reasons we should always take a risk even if the odds are not in our favor. Have you ever thought about taking a risk on something?

Risky business.

No matter what we do in life we will always be taking a risk on something. For example, asking someone out on a date because you like them. There is a risk that this person will say no or laugh at you. But if we never take the risk and ask them out on a date we will never learn if there is a connection or if there are mutual feelings. Not all risks can be winners but if we never try, we will never know what it could have been. Have you ever been afraid to take a risk on something because you didn’t want to be embarrassed or denied?

Taking a risk on everything.

We should take a risk on most things if not everything (well within reason). As much as risks can fail, when we accomplish a risk, it can be rewarding. We can never succeed in life if we do not take risks. Risks are what we do and is how we be where we want to be. If we never took a risk on anything we would be living as a single person in our parents’ home. Taking a risk on stuff is how we come out of our shell and be ourselves. Could you imagine not taking a single risk in your life?

Too much risk.

We can always push taking to many or too much of a risk. Take gambling for instance. Gambling is like taking a risk. You can win a lot of money gambling and taking a risk but if you over gamble/gamble more than you have the risk is too great especially if you lose. Gambling on something you do not have is taking too much of a risk. When we take risks, we must moderate ourselves like we should be doing when we gamble or go to the casino. Do you think gambling and taking risks are the same?

Weighing out risks.

When we debate on whether we should take a certain risk or not, we should weigh out all the outcomes with the pros and cons. If we think and weigh out our risks, it will help us prepare for all the outcomes of the risks and help us decide if we should take the risk or not. Weighing risks is great thing to do when deciding to do something big like buy a new home, take a new job or career, go on an expensive excursion, etc. Do you ever weigh out your big or risky risks?

Taking big risks for me.

I have taken many big risks. Buying a new home, new vehicle, even changing careers and taking a new job. But not all risks were easily spelled out like these ones. One of the biggest risks I had to take was possibly losing my job, and having multiple people upset with me. The risk I had to take was getting a coworker in trouble. It’s not something I like doing but it had to be done. So, long story but hopefully short here it is. For months my EMS partner would sleep when not on an emergency call (not the problem, we get rest when we are posted or waiting for an emergency call). The big issue is she would sleep all the way to the emergency call and sometimes I would start patient care while she was sleeping (this was the issue). One day I planned it out where we would miss a non-emergency transfer (missing a call is usually automatic termination). I had to take a risk of her being caught sleeping and for me to not get fired. A very long story shortened she was caught, and I did not get into trouble. The only thing is the bosses and dispatch wish they knew what I was planning instead of just doing it. I explained that every time I did bring it to their attention, they would wake her up or tell me to wake her this time. Nothing was getting done about it for months and the killer part was to wake her up I had to physically shake her to wake her up since she is a very deep sleeper. What would you have done in this situation?

What is the biggest thing you had to take a risk on and how did it end?
